Janet Jackson is set to receive the Icon Award and will perform on television for the first time since 2018 at the American Music Awards

Janet Jackson is set to receive the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs).

In addition to receiving the prize for her “undeniable cultural and global influence,” Janet will grace the stage at the ceremony on May 26, marking her first TV performance in seven years.

The 58-year-old music star expressed gratitude on Instagram: “Thank you so much, AMAs!!” It is a privilege. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to grace your stage once more. Looking forward to seeing you in Vegas! (sic)

The artist behind ‘Rhythm Nation’ continues the legacy established by icons such as Rihanna and Lionel Richie.

The 2025 AMAs will be held at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas, with Jennifer Lopez serving as the host.

Kendrick Lamar led the nominations with a total of 10.

The rap megastar’s 2024 LP ‘GNX’ is a contender for Album of the Year, while his diss track aimed at Drake, ‘Not Like Us,’ is nominated for Song of the Year, marking yet another strike against his rival. K Dot will also compete against Chappell Roan, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift for Artist of the Year.

The artist behind ‘Scream’ has announced an extension of her residency at Resorts World Las Vegas, with new performances scheduled for May 21, 24, 25, 28, 30, and 31. 

Janet began her 10-night engagement at Resorts World Las Vegas on December 30 and was scheduled to conclude the series on February 15.
