Salah has the potential to repeat Premier League history

Mohamed Salah, a winger for Liverpool and Egypt, has the chance to tie, if not surpass, the Premier League record for assists in a single season and make history for the second time this season.

With 18 assists so far this season, he is two assists shy of matching the Premier League record of 20 set by Kevin De Bruyne in the 2019–20 season and Thierry Henry in the 2002–03 season.

With 270 goals and assists in 294 appearances, Salah ranks seventh all-time in the league in terms of goal contributions. This season, he has already surpassed Henry for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season, with 45, one more than Henry’s 44.

With 28 goals for Liverpool this season—five more than next-best Alexander Isak—Salah, affectionately known by Liverpool supporters as “The Egyptian King,” has played a key role in the team’s championship victory and is leading the race for Golden Boot.

He now ranks fifth on the all-time goalscorers list with 185 goals, two behind Andrew Cole, and tenth all-time in assists with 87, two behind James Milner, thanks to his efforts this season. He is the only player from Africa to ever rank among the top 10 in each category.

Salah had chances to match or surpass the record against Brighton on Monday and Crystal Palace on the last day of the season, but he was unable to provide an assist for The Reds in their 2-2 draw with second-place Arsenal over the weekend.

The captain of the Egyptian national team just signed a new two-year contract that would keep him at Liverpool through the conclusion of the 2026–2027 season.
