India Reopens 32 Airports After Pakistan and India Ceasefire
32 airports that were closed during recent battles with Pakistan have been reopened by India after a ceasefire agreement was reached over the weekend.
The reopening of 32 airports that had been closed due to increased tensions with neighboring Pakistan was announced by India on Monday. Following a ceasefire agreement negotiated over the weekend, which eased weeks of tense relations and air travel difficulties in the area, the action was taken.
The Airports Authority of India said in a statement that the airports are now open for immediate usage by civil planes, indicating that things have returned to normal after being temporarily closed due to security concerns.
Flight operations between the two nations can now restart after Pakistan reopened its airspace on Saturday. Passengers and airlines alike have praised the coordinated relaxation of regulations.
IndiGo, India’s top carrier, said it will gradually restore service on the impacted routes.
Several preventative actions were implemented during a recent flare-up of cross-border tensions, including the closing of airspace. De-escalation and the return of normal connectivity in the area are being facilitated by the reopening of airports and airline routes.
Although authorities have not yet provided a detailed timeline for the return of all scheduled services, airlines are anticipated to make changes to their flight itineraries in the days ahead.
