Doctor Cautions Against Urinating in the Shower – Here’s the Reason

Shower urination has been hotly debated.

According to urogynecologist Dr. Teresa Irwin, doing so teaches the brain to associate the sound of falling water with the urge to urinate.

Additionally, this might cause repeated, needless trips to the bathroom by confusing the body’s bladder control.

Dr. Irwin stated in a TikTok video: “It’s similar to Pavlov’s dog training in that they will begin to salivate whenever they hear a small bell ring.

Additionally, your bladder will want to urinate whenever it hears running water.

As a result, if you wash your hands, take a shower, or do the dishes while running water, your bladder will start “salivating” because it has to urinate.

“So you must stop!”
