JAY-Z’s Verdict Because of the rape accuser’s statements, Roc Nation was refused a $115 million line of credit
The mogul has filed extortion and slander lawsuits against Jane Doe’s lawyer.
JAY-Z is still pursuing justice against his accuser and her lawyers for alleged defamation, even though his rape lawsuit was dismissed in February. Late Monday, May 5, the head of Roc Nation filed an updated case in Mobile, Alabama, claiming that despite her agreement, his accuser “has not stopped” making defamatory remarks about him. Her actions, according to him and his legal team, have cost him and his business millions of dollars in lost income.
According to Jay’s latest filing, on April 11, Jane Doe uploaded a TikTok of herself lip-syncing an audio clip, which could have given viewers the impression that she was referring to and bolstering her case. “I stand by what I said, f**k you,” the recording says, adding that you couldn’t buy me a million dollars to make me do an apologetic video.
The updated complaint, which Rolling Stone has access to, details how Doe’s actions impact his company. According to the “99 Problems” rapper’s complaint, “Doe continues to display a shocking and reckless disregard for the truth that is both intentional and malicious by refusing to apologize and continuing to’stand on what [she] said,’ despite all the evidence and, in fact, her own admissions to the contrary.” “Doe acted with reckless disregard for the truth and never had any reasonable basis to support any truth in her statements.” To put it another way, she lied.
Jay also confirmed a previous allegation that Roc Nation lost out on an undisclosed $20 million in his revised complaint. The $20 million, according to the statement, was the “minimum fee guarantee” of an unnamed contract, and the entire pay for the transaction “would have been many millions of dollars higher had the contract been performed.” Additionally, he claims that Doe’s accusations had a major impact on his capacity to look for fresh business prospects.
According to the amended complaint, “Mr. Carter was denied a $55 million personal credit line as a result of defendants’ filing of the false lawsuit and other false public statements against Mr. Carter.” It also claims that a $115 million loan to Roc Nation was turned down. The legal team contends that because Jay and Roc are “inextricably tied,” this also directly impacts Jay.
Doe accused JAY-Z in public on December 8, 2024, of raping her at the age of 13 during an MTV VMAs afterparty with Sean “Diddy” Combs. The Brooklyn rapper sued her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for slander and extortion after she willingly dropped the case in February.
In a separate statement at the time, JAY-Z’s lawyer Alex Spiro said, “The bogus case against JAY-Z, which never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice. Jay has done what few can do by refusing to back down in the face of horrible and untrue accusations; he pushed back, never gave up, never paid a single red cent, and ultimately prevailed and cleared his name.
