Smokey Robinson is accused by former coworkers of sexual assault and a hostile work environment

The complaint against the crooner was brought by four women.

The 85-year-old crooner is being accused by four former employees of sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, gender aggression, and fostering a hostile work environment. The allegations were based on a complaint that was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, May 6.

The complaint also named Frances, his 77-year-old wife.

According to PEOPLE, the plaintiffs claimed that Smokey deliberately disregarded their “rights, privacy, and feelings” in order to carry out his “willful, wanton, and malicious” conduct.

Jane Doe 1 claimed in the complaint that Robinson’s wife “failed to take the appropriate corrective action” to stop his “deviant misconduct” after settling cases with other women who had been sexually assaulted by him in a similar manner and that she had “full knowledge of his prior acts of sexual misconduct.”

Following her initial reported sexual assault in March 2023, Jane Doe 1 reportedly endured “repeated sexual assaults and sexual harassment.”

From 2014 to 2020, Jane Doe 2 was employed by the defendants; nevertheless, she was allegedly “forced to resign” as a result of Robinson’s “repeated sexual assaults” on her, which allegedly began in 2016.

As Robinson’s maid from 2012 until 2024, Jane Doe 3 was also accused of being forced to quit due to the singer’s persistent “sexual assaults and sexual harassment against her.” She further claimed that after making her “lie face down” in a towel, Robinson had raped her from behind “at least 20 times.”

From 2006 until 2024, Jane Doe 4 worked as Robinson’s cleaner. She was allegedly forced to leave her position due to “repeated sexual assaults and sexual harassment” against her, which began in 2007.

The women are requesting damages totaling $50,000,000. This afternoon, their legal team is scheduled to hold a press conference.
