Dynamos secures the title of the Zambian League with one game to spare
Power Dynamos defeated Green Eagles 1-0 at Arthur Davis Stadium on Saturday, securing the title of Zambia Super League champions with one game left in the season.
Brian Masanyinga gave his team their second league victory in three seasons with a penalty kick in the ninth minute of stoppage time, securing the championship in dramatic fashion at home.
In celebration of the win and the adding of another league trophy to the club’s cabinet, supporters rushed onto the field after the final whistle.
With 20 victories, seven draws, and six losses in 33 games this season, Dynamos have amassed 67 points. With one league game left, they are now seven points ahead of ZESCO United, the title contenders, thanks to their victory over the weekend.
On the last day, ZESCO needed Dynamos to lose or draw in order to have a chance to win the championship. However, Dynamos won late, and ZESCO dropped to Mutondo Stars in 12th place.
Following their season-ending league matchup with Nchanga Rangers at Nchanga Stadium, Dynamos will raise the MTN Super League trophy on Saturday, May 17.
