The US State Department authorizes a $3.5 billion missile deal with Saudi Arabia

The Pentagon said Friday that the U.S. State Department had cleared a potential $3.5 billion foreign military sale to Saudi Arabia of AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and associated support.

When US President Donald Trump visits Saudi Arabia in May, the United States is prepared to present the country with an arms package valued at well over $100 billion.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ordered 50 AMRAAM guidance sections, 1,000 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM), and additional equipment such as spare parts, missile containers, and spare parts, along with logistics support services.

On Friday, Congress was informed of the potential sale by the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

Notwithstanding the State Department’s permission, the notification does not signify the signing of a contract or the conclusion of discussions.

The Pentagon says RTX Corp (RTX.N) will be the main contractor, opens new tab.
