Mike Waltz, Trump’s national security adviser, is reportedly resigning amid the fallout from “Signalgate”

Trump’s senior security assistant Mike Waltz is expected to step down in the wake of the uproar surrounding the leaked Signal communication about military plans.

According to CBS News, Mike Waltz, the National Security Advisor, is leaving his position. This is the first significant departure from President Donald Trump’s senior leadership team during his second term in office.

Waltz’s resignation comes after the infamous “Signalgate” episode, in which a journalist was inadvertently included in a secure Signal group chat that Waltz had created. Top officials were reportedly involved in the conversation, which included talks about possible military actions in Yemen.

Despite the Trump administration’s prior downplaying of the issue and claim that no classified material was shared, the security breach attracted a lot of attention.

Anthony Zurcher, a correspondent in North America, said the White House seemed to wait to take action until the incident’s exposure had subsided. Waltz’s exit comes as Trump’s administration has been actively pushing for him to reach his 100-day mark in office.
