Felix said American athletes will love the “home Games” in Los Angeles

Olympic legend Allyson Felix stated that, “American athletes will have the rare opportunity to compete at an Olympics on home soil at the Los Angeles Games in 2028, and those considering retirement may not be able to resist sticking around for the chance.”

One of Felix’s few regrets during her five-game Olympic career is that she never had the opportunity to put on her spikes in the United States. Felix is the most decorated female track and field athlete in history.

Felix, a native of Los Angeles who is currently a board member of LA28, said Reuters, “Having a home Games is what I would have loved most.”

“We have put a lot of effort into bringing the Games back to Los Angeles, and above all, I’m thrilled that the athletes will get the chance to showcase themselves in front of the American public. That’s enormous.

“I’m thrilled for Angelinos and everyone else around the globe. They get to witness the Games up close, and we get to greet them.”

As she accepted her Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award in Madrid last week, gymnast Simone Biles stated that she had not yet made up her mind about competing in what would be her fourth Games.

It’s unclear if the possibility of hearing cries of “USA! USA!” can persuade seven-time Olympic champion Biles to return after witnessing firsthand the enthusiastic response French gymnasts received at the Bercy Arena during last year’s Paris Games.

All prospective Team USA athletes will find that vision irresistible, according to Felix.
“If you can stick around to be involved in some capacity, you can’t pass that up,” Felix stated.

During a recent engagement with the Los Angeles Jets, Felix was beaming as she used the children’s snack item Danimals as a promotional campaign to surprise members of the prestigious young track and field club.

“The Jets are such a powerhouse and a staple in the community and looking at these kids it’s interesting because beyond ’28, they are going to be the ones who are out there,” she stated.

The mother of two, who has paved the way for women in sports, claimed that the young sprinters she faced reminded her of herself.

“We did a little relay and they wanted to race me for real,” Felix, an 11-time Olympic medallist with seven golds, said.

“I love to see that because yeah, you should!”
