Samuel Brian Creates History by Winning Red Bull Dance Your Style Kenya 2025 Twice
For its fifth season in 2025, Red Bull Dance Your Style made a comeback to Kenya, culminating in an exciting National Final event held on Sunday, April 27, at the Imaara Mall Rooftop. Following an exciting afternoon of freestyle bouts, Samuel Brian became the second national champion and was chosen to represent Kenya at the World Finals in Los Angeles this October.
Following his victory, Samuel Brian declares, “I feel great — God exists!” Although I was unable to attend the global finals in India last year, I have been granted another opportunity to compete, this time in America. I started dancing when I was nine years old, back in 2014, and my passion for dance has given me a wealth of experience. I just wanted to have fun when I took the stage today, just like when I dance at home,” she continued. Red Bull dancing Your Style is truly bringing the dancing community together, and for that I am grateful. The fact that they invite foreign dancers and winners from other nations is incredible.
Regional qualifications for the 2025 edition were held in Eldoret (March 8), Mombasa (April 5), and Nairobi (April 12), resulting in intense rivalry throughout the nation. Five exceptional finalists from each city competed nationally alongside Samuel Brian, a wildcard entrant:
• Eldoret finalists: Ace B, Yvette Kisache, Tony Abuga (TJ), Darwin Edagiza, and Vincent Kipkemoi (VK Don).
• Mombasa finalists: Tevin Stylez, Moddy Ndege, Bollah Mbantu, Sofia Papita, and King Brissy.
• Finalists for the Nairobi: Kyra Bronze, Lenox Blessed, Almasi King, Zach The Great, and Young Meshu.
On Saturday, April 26, the dance community in Kenya gathered for an exciting day of workshops offered by leading dancers and choreographers prior to the finale. King DaVinci from Nigeria and VERB from South Africa, two worldwide Red Bull Dance your Style ambassadors, taught the Afro and Krump sessions, respectively, along with AfroSassy with Ayoma, Dancehall with Quincy, and Vogue with Wiggly from Kenya. These seminars provide a unique chance to celebrate street dance culture in Kenya and around Africa, exchange creative ideas, and develop skills.
Red Bull Dance Your Style, in keeping with its distinctive approach, gives the audience the last say. After each battle, the audience votes to determine the winner without the need for a panel of judges. In order to connect with the music and the audience, dancers must do their finest freestyle moves to erratic sounds.
The greatest urban dance talent is showcased at Red Bull Dance Your Style, a global phenomenon that is now held in more than 50 countries. At the 2024 World Finals in Mumbai, Pessa Vanessa of Kenya enthusiastically represented her country. As Samuel Brian gets ready to represent Kenya even more globally in Los Angeles this year, all eyes will be on him.
