Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery suspect asserts that he abandoned a $24,000 diamond necklace on the street

In the current trial, three of the accused connected to Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris heist have provided testimony regarding the crime.

The most well-known of the 10 defendants in the case, Yunice Abbas, disclosed that he was hurt while making his getaway with Kim’s jewelry. One of the entertainer’s engagement rings was among the $10 million worth of gems that he and his partners stole.

Only ten of the twelve defendants who were first connected to Kim Kardashian’s Paris heist are currently on trial. While one of the suspects was excused due to extreme dementia, the other recently passed away.

Recounting His Role in the 2016 Crime, One of Kim Kardashian’s Paris Thieves

In his evidence, Abbas described how, on October 3, 2016, at around three in the morning, he and other “Grandpa Robbers” fled the Hôtel de Pourtalès and took Kim’s goods. During Paris Fashion Week, they broke into the entertainer’s rented suite, overpowered a guard, and then robbed her of her valuables.

About $10 million worth of valuables, including the $4 million diamond engagement ring that Kim’s ex-husband Kanye “Ye” West gave her, was stolen by the group. Unfortunately for them, Abbas made a catastrophic mistake while riding away on a bicycle, making their escape less seamless than their admission.

He remembered spilling the jewelry bag on the pavement after he fell off his bicycle. Before leaving the scene, Abbas made an effort to retrieve what he could, although he left behind a $24,000 diamond necklace.

According to BBC News, a pedestrian discovered the jewel later that morning and reportedly showed it off at work all day before discovering the theft.

The police received the diamond necklace back.

The pedestrian who picked up the diamond necklace promptly gave it back to the police after realizing their mistake. Abbas and his accomplices were apprehended by French police in January 2017 thanks to this jewelry and DNA recovered from the crime site.

Before arresting the gang, police subsequently disclosed that they had been monitoring them for a number of weeks. Gary Madar, one of the guys connected to the heist, testified on Tuesday that he had nothing to do with the crime.

He is the youngest of the suspects at 35, and Kim mentioned him by name because she thought he had told the robbers where she was going. Gary was employed by Kourtney Kardashian at the time of the heist, and the Madar family has a long history of working with the Kardashians.

Investigators suspect he gave Kim’s information to another defendant, Florus Héroui, who owned the cafe where he worked, despite his denial of any wrongdoing.

The third defendant admitted his role in the heist.

Although Gary maintained that he was unaware of Kim’s robbery, 78-year-old defendant Marc Boyer admitted to his involvement in the theft. Boyer apologized for his behavior and was charged with procuring the rifle used in the incident.

Playing the compassion card, he said that friends he called “thieves” and “crooks” and small-time criminal activity had a bad impact on his life. Boyer also apologized for exposing Marc-Alexandre, his son, to a life of crime.

Investigators believe that while Boyer remained downstairs at the hotel acting as a lookout with Abbas, Marc-Alexandre was more crucial to Kim’s heist. Three magistrates presided over the trial, and six jury members were chosen before it began on Monday.

Yunice Abbas Retracted His Inconsiderate Remarks In the course of the trial

Abbas completely changed his mind about his guilt, which caused a stir when he appeared in court. The Blast reported that throughout the trial, he retracted his earlier statement that he felt no remorse for Kim’s robbery. Abbas confessed his guilt to the court, saying:

“I didn’t before. However, I do regret what I did this time. My eyes were opened. All day long, TVs discussed it, which made me wonder a few things.

Regarding his controversial memoir “I Held Up Kim Kardashian,” published in 2021, Abbas denied showing his complicity in the incident.

Despite what the book’s title implied, he emphasized that he did not feel proud of robbing Kim. He also pleaded for forgiveness, attributing his bad decisions to the lack of a positive male role model.

Kim Kardashian was first held responsible for the incident by the Paris robber.
