Reference for Barcelona vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey Final Cry Over Error Video

Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, who will officiate Saturday’s Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, broke down in tears when Real Madrid’s in-house TV channel (RMTV) broadcast a deprecating film on Friday.

According to RMTV, the film, which was made public on Thursday, purports to show a number of errors made by De Burgos throughout his career.

The latest in RMTV’s string of edits that have criticized Spanish officials is this release. “When a child comes to school and his friends tell him that his father is a thief, it makes you sick,” De Burgos said during a press conference to express his sorrow.

He went on to emphasize his candor and the challenges faced by numerous football officials, both professional and amateur.

“What I do is attempt to teach my son that his father is a good man, but like all athletes, he makes mistakes. It’s really difficult, and I wouldn’t advise anyone to do it.

“What we are going through for a lot of colleagues, both in professional and grassroots football, is wrong. Let’s all think about our goals and what we hope to get out of football and sports.

Real Madrid did not immediately reply to De Burgos’ comments.

Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes, the VAR official for Saturday’s final, stated that referees will soon act due to the ongoing pressure they face.

He declared, “We are not going to continue to allow what is happening; we are going to start taking real action.”

You’ll all see in a few days. We are going to change the course of history and we will no longer tolerate the situation we are in. A blow? We will provide you more updates shortly.

In February, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) raised awareness of referees’ concerns over abuse by bringing attention to the case of Jose Munuera Montero, an official who came under fire for ejecting Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham off the field.

A few weeks before, Real had also sent a letter of complaint against the Spanish referees after losing to Espanyol 1-0.
