A 15-year-old classmate was fatally stabbed in a French school attack, while three others were hurt

A 15-year-old student from a private Catholic school in France carried out a horrific school attack, killing a girl and wounding three boys.

According to police, a 15-year-old boy attacked the Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides school in Nantes, western France, on Thursday, killing stabbing a classmate and injuring three others.

The event happened at the private Catholic college at around noon, and according to BFM TV, the injured students were guys, while the deceased victim was a girl. The victims’ identities and ages have not been formally verified by authorities.

Before police arrived on the scene, teaching staff managed to control the teenage suspect. Officials have already stated there is no early indication of a terrorist motive, despite the fact that he was brought into custody.

Before being freed under police protection, pupils were detained inside the school building for several hours following the attack. As word of the tragedy spread, dozens of worried parents gathered at the gates.

According to Nicolas, a parent at the school, “We’re waiting to be able to hold them in our arms … to help them deal with the stress this will have caused.”

Reporters were informed by a student who knew the attacker that he had previously made unsettling statements indicating Nazi sympathies. He mentioned Nazi ideology. We assumed he was merely making folks laugh when he said it. We’ve heard that he intended to revive Hitler’s Nazi ideology,” she remarked.

According to the same student, the boy sent a long email to the entire school community just before the stabbing. Parts of the message have been published by French media outlets, which characterize its tone as anti-globalization and ecological without mentioning violence or a premeditated attack.

Speaking from Nantes, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau connected the incident to larger social problems but declined to discuss the boy’s history or motivations. “This type of violence is caused by a general atmosphere of laxism and a lack of hierarchy and order,” he stated.

Johanna Rolland, the mayor of Nantes, cautioned against making the tragedy a political issue. “There is a need to address the issue of the mental health of this nation’s youth,” she stated.

On Friday, the local prosecutor is scheduled to give more information about the continuing investigation at a press conference.
