Leverkuen shoots back at Bayer during the chase of Wittz

As Bayer Leverkusen attacks Bayern Munich for their open campaign to entice star midfielder Florian Wirtz, tensions in the Bundesliga are rising.

The leadership of Leverkusen has expressed its displeasure with Bayern’s frequent public remarks, labeling them “inappropriate” and unnecessary, even if the 21-year-old’s future is still up in the air. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern have expressed a lot of interest in Leverkusen, but the team is determined to maintain their emerging star, or at least block him from leaving for a direct league competitor.

Although Fernando Carro, the CEO of Leverkusen, clarified that Bayern had not made an official offer, he criticized the Bavarians’ handling of their interest in Wirtz. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness have both praised the German international, referring to him as the nation’s best player.

However, Carro maintains that the team is committed to keeping the midfield player, perhaps even extending his contract past 2027. Wirtz will have to make a big decision this summer as rumors circulate and Real Madrid closes in on coach Xabi Alonso, and Leverkusen isn’t going down without a fight.
