Berkane and Simba take the lead in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals
Simba SC and RSB Berkane secured significant advantages heading into the next leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals based on their first-leg matches.
At the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday, Simba defeated Stellenbosch 1-0 in a hotly contested game. The home team had a respectable first half, which was capped off by Jean Ahoua’s successful free-kick right before halftime.
This gives Simba a slim lead heading into the second leg, which will take place in South Africa. Nevertheless, as they continue to play in their first CAF competition, Stellenbosch will undoubtedly come back.
Even though Simba won, head coach Fadlu Davids was unhappy with his team’s performance and criticized his charges.
“We are a big club, Simba Sports Club is a big club, and we cannot be happy with a scoreline like this, especially when you really have moments to make it two, make it three, even make it four zero,” he stated. “Our objective is done in terms of keeping a clean sheet.”
At the Municipal Stadium of Berkane, RSB Berkane dominated and defeated CS Constantine 4-0. Constantine will need to mount a comeback to reverse the outcome because he has a significant lead going into the next leg.
