Davido Releases “5ive,” His Long-Awaited Studio Album

Davido presents “5ive,” his fifth studio album, as a triumph for contemporary African music.

Friday marked the release of Davido’s eagerly awaited album, 5ive.

Many have been excited to participate with the piece of art since its announcement, expecting the caliber of the songs, lyrical delivery, beats, complements, and collaborations.

Anthony Joshua, King Concord, Only1Kesh, Cubana ChiefPriest, and many others raised awareness of the 5ive Album like never before by flashing their five fingers.

Just hours before the album’s release, an unexpected partnership between Davido and PlayStation, one of the top gaming businesses in the world, surfaced.

Davido and another performer engaged in a lighthearted discussion about the song “Five” in a video upload, which was a witty reference to both his new album and the PlayStation 5 system.

Since Davido likes to play video games on the console with the campaign’s lead character, references to “Five” are interwoven throughout the speech. Fans responded quite favorably to the ad campaign, which in fact helped 5ive win over millions of hearts and ears.

Davido had a few hours left before the planned release in London, when the entire album was played for the first time, following a successful performance in Paris. And with the help of his followers who attended the performance, the record was formally released with a five-countdown to midnight. Since the eagerly awaited body of work was finally available for public consumption, it was undoubtedly a lovely moment between Davido and his followers.

Davido presents 2025’s 5ive as a sort of triumph lap for the modern African music scene as a whole, not just for his personal goals. He tells Apple Music, “This is definitely about celebrating longevity and how far we’ve come.”

“The journey has been a very lengthy one. The state of Afrobeats is incredible. From Ghana to Nigeria to South Africa, everyone is doing well. We have our own Grammy and Billboard Award categories, and our own festivals sell out more than American festivals, demonstrating how we have elevated and elevated our culture and music to such heights. It’s insane. Everyone is tampering with the culture because of the nature of the entire genre. Thus, each album aims to advance Afrobeats.

The way Davido deftly weaves together several musical genres and incorporates them into his unique style is another remarkable feature of this album. He broadens the album’s appeal by working with international celebrities including Dadju, Shenseea, Tayc, and Victoria Monét. To keep up a recognizable but improved sound trajectory, he rejoins producers Shizzi, Marvey Muzique, and DJ Maphorisa, as well as regular collaborators Chris Brown and Musa Keys.

Davido celebrates Nigeria’s varied musical environment with contributions from local artists like ODUMODUBLVCK, Omah Lay, and Chike, while also showcasing up-and-coming talent like Jamaican musician 450. The end product is a vast and culturally diverse effort that embodies his profound roots and global perspective.

The 5ive bug has spread across social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and many more. Sharing dance and sing-along videos to songs from the album has become popular among fans, influencers, and content producers. There is no question that Davido’s impact has been established and will only grow.

Davido wants us to align with his intentions as the album makes its way into the charts and into the hearts of millions of people. “Legacy is not what you leave behind, but what you breathe into the future,” he revealed.
