UCL: Major Setback for Bayern Munich as Neuer Excluded from Inter Match

The club said on Tuesday that Manuel Neuer, the injured goalie for Bayern Munich, will not participate in the second leg of their quarterfinal Champions League encounter against Inter Milan of Italy on Wednesday.

Many Bayern players are sidelined by injuries, including Neuer, who will travel to Italy with the team later on Tuesday, offensive midfielder Jamal Musiala, and defenders Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito.

“Due to injury, Manuel Neuer will not play, but he will accompany the team to Milan to support it,” Bayern stated in a statement.

Despite being out for more than a month due to a calf muscle injury, there were hopes that Neuer, 39, would recover for the rematch following last week’s 2-1 home loss to Inter in the first leg.

The winner will face either Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund in the round of four.

Bayern is also leading the Bundesliga with five games left and a six-point advantage.
