NBA player Trevor Ariza’s ex-wife responds to his demand for custody with accusations of “aggression”

The turmoil surrounding Trevor Ariza’s custody dispute may not be over soon because his ex-wife has made fresh accusations against him.

The former professional basketball player and his ex-girlfriend, Bree Anderson, have been at odds since their breakup in 2022. For two years, their disagreements prevented them from completing their divorce; nevertheless, in January 2024, they reached a settlement.

In order to decide the future of their two children, Trevor Ariza and Bree Anderson are back in court more than a year after they reached their divorce deal. He wants full custody of their son and lower child support, but his ex-wife doesn’t think he should get what he wants.

Last month, Ariza and Anderson’s problems reappeared when the former professional athlete demanded primary custody of their son, Taylor. In addition, he begged the court to lower his $10,000 monthly child support payments, pointing to his limited resources.

Anderson recently criticized his demands as unjust and superfluous in his response to his lawsuit. She said she had to rely on friends and family to sustain herself and her children after Ariza stopped paying child support in April 2024.

Regarding her circumstances, Anderson continued, “I am currently enrolled in school and achieving my license in real estate,” before denouncing Ariza for his alleged “aggression.” According to In Touch, the mother of two stated that she was concerned for the safety of her son, even though the boy has been living with the former athlete for months.

Anderson claims that Ariza has had a detrimental impact on their son by not urging him to interact with her or any of her relatives. 

“[Trevor’s] behavior has spiraled out of control, and I am still afraid of him,” she stated. In response to the former athlete’s claimed “aggression,” Anderson brought up an incident involving their daughter, Taylor.

Anderson claimed that in August 2024, Ariza had allowed his partner to infringe on their daughter’s personal space. Legal filings state that the alleged incident “created an extreme fear when she goes to his home.” In light of this allegation, Anderson requested primary custody of their daughter.

For their son, she maintained that she and Ariza should continue to share custody. However, Anderson rejected his requests for lower child support costs, citing his purported financial difficulties. According to her:

Trevor claims to have experienced a significant shift in his finances, which has led him to travel both domestically and abroad. In addition to running several enterprises, Trevor recently received his retirement payout this month.

Bullying his ex-wife and daughter is the charge against Ariza.

As their confrontations went on, Anderson took aim at Ariza for making fun of their divorce settlement and disparaging her on social media. She intensified her accusations of his alleged violence against her and their children, saying:

“[Trevor] has thoroughly disrespected and disregarded the terms of every agreement in our divorce decree and continues to bully myself and my daughter while praising Tristan and attempting to turn him against myself and my family.”

While going through a divorce, Anderson and Ariza both accused the other of physical abuse. Both, nevertheless, strongly refuted the accusations. According to a 2023 article by The Blast, the former Lakers player requested a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife.

Anderson lost her temper after his new romantic interest called him, according to Ariza’s restraining order request. “Bree grabbed me by my hair and violently ripped a dreadlock right out of my scalp,” he said, adding:

“A second dreadlock was nearly completely torn off of my head by Bree. There were a few hairs hanging from my scalp from this second dreadlock.

According to Ariza, she became envious and attacked him after almost causing a car accident. She dragged the steering wheel toward the passenger seat with her right hand, he remembered, trying to steer the car off the road. Their car veered sharply to the right, over two lanes of traffic, as a result.
