“Onana agreed to be dropped by Amorim”
It was said that Andre Onana, the goalie for Manchester United, did a good job of dealing with being dropped by manager Ruben Amorim before Sunday night’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League.
Following his mistake-filled game against Lyon in the Europa League last Thursday, Onana was not included in United’s team that played Newcastle. This made headlines in English football this weekend.
David Ornstein, an athletics reporter, said that Amorim wanted to take the heat off of his first-choice goalkeeper by putting Altay Bayındır in for Onana.
According to Give Me Sport, Ornstein said, “It was accepted professionally by Onana.”
Amorim wanted to protect him from criticism for his play, what he said before the Lyon game, and the recent mugging of his wife in the area, which was very upsetting.
“This is something he was told yesterday Saturday, so he would have known before the news spread, Onana.”
