Val Kilmer’s Official Cause of Death Has Been Revealed
New information has surfaced, however pneumonia has been declared as Val Kilmer’s official cause of death.
Best remembered for his parts in “Top Gun,” “The Doors,” and “Batman Forever,” the actor passed away in Los Angeles on April 1 at the age of 65 from what was initially believed to be pneumonia. TMZ has officially confirmed the tragedy.
The outlet was able to obtain a copy of the death certificate on Thursday, 10.04.25, which stated that the inflammatory condition of the lung was the “immediate cause” of his death. However, it also confirmed that “acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, chronic respiratory failure, and squamous cell carcinoma of the base of the tongue” were all contributing factors.
“Malnutrition, and a tracheocutaneous” were additional concerns, according to the source, and the Hollywood celebrity was cremated on Monday.
Initial confirmation of his cause of death came from his daughter Mercedes Kilmer, who told the New York Times newspaper.
Additionally, Mercedes mentioned that Val had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but had since recovered.
The actor made his film debut in the 1984 espionage parody “Top Secret!” but gained much of his fame as the Caped Crusader in “Batman Forever,” Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in “Top Gun,” and the late rocker Jim Morrison in the 1991 biopic “The Doors.”
Val made his last film cameo in 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” in which he played Iceman again and experienced a fleeting and “emotional” moment with co-star Tom Cruise.
