Grey’s Anatomy Star Eric Dane was given an ALS diagnosis

Eric Dane, star of Grey’s Anatomy, has been diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The 52-year-old actor announced publicly that he is fighting an incurable degenerative disease that affects the nervous system and results in muscle paralysis. He expressed gratitude for his family’s support and stated that he intends to keep working, hoping to return to the set of his television program “Euphoria” in the near future.

“I have been diagnosed with ALS,” he said to People magazine. I am thankful to have my devoted family by my side as we move on into this new phase. I consider myself lucky to be able to keep working, and I am excited to be back on the set of “Euphoria” the next week. Please respect my family’s and my privacy during this time.

According to the article, Eric intends to return to the set on Monday, April 14.

The most prevalent type of motor neurone disease, ALS is sometimes referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, after the baseball player of the same name who received a diagnosis in 1939.

Although some ALS patients with a slow-progressing type of the disease can live considerably longer, the typical life period following diagnosis is three years.

Stephen Hawking, a physicist, was diagnosed with the illness at age 21 and lived to be 76.

Actress Rebecca Gayheart and the Last Ship star are parents to two kids, Georgia, 13, and Billie, 15.

In 2005, the pair got married in Las Vegas, but Rebecca filed for divorce in 2018. She did, however, submit documentation in March to have the petition denied.

Rebecca maintained that they are closer than ever just before Eric revealed his health issue to the world.
