Trump is praised by the nonprofit organization Razom for Ukraine for securing the release of Americans detained in Russia
Razom, a nonprofit organization, praises President Trump’s dedication to American interests overseas following Ksenia Karelina’s release from more than a year in Russian custody.
Ksenia Karelina, an American citizen who was wrongfully detained in Russian captivity for more than a year, was freed thanks in part to President Donald Trump, according to a public statement by Razom for Ukraine, a US-based nonprofit organization that offers medical and humanitarian relief to Ukraine.
In February 2023, Karelina was detained by Russian authorities for allegedly making a donation to the organization.
Razom for Ukraine said in a statement released Thursday that it was extremely appreciative of Trump’s leadership and direct efforts in getting Karelina back home.
“President Donald Trump and his team deserve our appreciation for their efforts in securing Karelina’s release,” said Dora Chomiak, CEO of Razom for Ukraine.
“Our team congratulates President Trump for fulfilling his promise today to leave no American behind.
“We are thrilled to hear that Ksenia Karelina will be coming home,” Chomiak remarked. “The freedoms that Americans value and Ukrainians continue to defend were flagrantly attacked by her detention.”
Razom emphasized that although Karelina’s release is a major win, the battle is far from over.
Chomiak continued, “We are immensely thankful that she is free, but the work will not stop until all Americans and Ukrainians who have been wrongfully detained in Russian captivity are freed and Russia’s plans to destroy and conquer Ukraine are defeated.”
Additionally, the organization said that it had maintained constant communication with US officials during Karelina’s detention and promised to keep fighting for the rights and freedom of individuals targeted for supporting Ukraine.
