Mbappe’s legal team claims that as the salary dispute intensifies, multiple PSG accounts have been suspended

The legal team for Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France soccer, has asked to UEFA and the French sports minister to pay him 55 million euros ($61.25 million) in unpaid salaries. They also alleged that several of the club’s accounts were frozen on Thursday.

At a press conference, Mbappe’s attorney Delphine Verheyden declared, “We’re going to go on the attack.”

Due to an ongoing civil court process, the French Football Federation declared Mbappe’s request invalid, despite the French League (LFP) ordering PSG to pay the youngster last year.

However, in order to freeze 55 million euros in PSG’s accounts, Mbappe’s legal team has turned to a Paris court.

According to Thomas Clay, one of Mbappe’s legal specialists, “We have protectively seized the accounts of PSG, to the tune of 55 million euros, this morning.”

In October, PSG stated that they were still seeking a “amicable solution” with Mbappe and that they would be “forced to bring the case before the competent courts.”

“After hearing yet another fantastic story from a parallel universe today, PSG continues to fail to understand why Kylian Mbappe is not taking his case to the labour chamber, which is the only court competent to settle the dispute between him and his former club,” said PSG on Thursday.

It’s because he’s not an employee like the others, according to his lawyers. PSG, on the other hand, feels that he is an employee just like everyone else and that he needs to honor the promises he has made to his company, both in private and in public.

“All the procedures announced by Kylian Mbappe’s lawyers only serve to delay the resolution of the dispute by the labour chamber, before which PSG is ready to present all the facts, evidence and testimony proving the existence of an agreement, or better still by means of the transaction that PSG has been calling for over a year.”

Attorneys representing Mbappe announced Thursday that they would present their case to the labor chamber.

“The club reaffirms its desire to reach an amicable outcome, as it has always been in favour of doing, despite the repeated signs of bad faith and the player’s total refusal of any mediation,” said PSG.

Mbappe stated in January of last year that he and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi had reached an agreement that would “protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges ahead.”

The 26-year-old Mbappe joined Real Madrid as a free agent last year, but during his seven years in the capital, he became PSG’s all-time leading scorer.

Mbappe had turned down the LFP’s offer to arbitrate the dispute, according to PSG.

Another attorney, Pierre-Olivier Sur, stated that they had lodged a harassment charge, alleging that PSG coerced Mbappe into extending his contract in 2023, only one year before it expired.

The champions of Ligue 1, however, contend that Mbappe’s contract was “legally amended” and that the striker had broken his word when he joined Real Madrid from Paris.
