
Kwibuka31: Arsenal honors Rwanda in remembrance
In observance of the 31st anniversary of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, English Premier League powerhouse Arsenal has joined Rwanda.
Through “Visit Rwanda,” the Gunners, French champions Paris Saint-Germain, and Germany’s most decorated team, Bayern Munich, have a partnership agreement with Rwanda.
In observance of the more than a million Tutsi lives lost in just 100 days, the English club sent a moving message of solidarity on social media to demonstrate support for Rwanda.

“Kwibuka” means “to recall.” We commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994 for the 31st time today,” the club wrote on Monday.
During their visits to Rwanda in recent years, a number of Arsenal players, administrators, and technical team members visited the various genocide memorial centers where they learned about the terrible history Rwanda endured until 1994.
The right back for Arsenal in 2023 When Jurrien Timber traveled to Rwanda, he visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and encouraged young Rwandan athletes to not only honor their departed loved ones but also to strive for their goals and help mold the country’s future.
