PSG is back as Ligue 1 champions after beating Angers

Luis Enrique’s team had an unbeatable lead in the French top division after Paris St-Germain defeated Angers 1-0 on Saturday to keep their perfect record and win the Ligue 1 title for the fourth time in a row.

PSG has been incredibly dominant at home since being purchased by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011, as evidenced by the fact that this is their 11th title in the previous 13 seasons, their 13th overall, and a French record.

With six rounds remaining, PSG is now at 74 points after winning thanks to a goal from Desire Doue.

Second-place AS Monaco, who play later on Saturday, is 24 points behind PSG and can only get to 71 points if they win all of their remaining games.

PSG dominated the ball and had 11 shots, of which Goncalo Ramos took nearly half, despite the fact that there was no goal in the first half.

The home team, though, failed to score.

But ten minutes into the second half, January recruit Khvicha Kvaratskhelia floated a cross into the six-yard box, and 19-year-old winger Doue scored his fifth league goal of the year with a volley at the far post to give PSG the lead.

The team’s leading scorer this season, Ousmane Dembele, was then brought in as part of a triple substitution by Luis Enrique. Dembele wanted to try to increase his goal total to 21 and earn some minutes before their Champions League quarterfinal showdown with Aston Villa.

Before the final whistle rang, the home audience kept yelling, “We are the champions,” despite the Angers defense holding firm and PSG’s inability to expand their lead.
