Bird, Moore, and Anthony are the class leaders of the Hall of Fame

Ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, WNBA star-turned-activist Maya Moore, and five-time Olympic gold winner Sue Bird have all been voted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

With four Women’s World Cup golds and one bronze to go along with her Olympic medal haul, Bird is the most decorated player in FIBA history. During her 21-year career with the Seattle Storm, she was selected to the WNBA All-Star team a record 13 times.

Moore, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, led the Minnesota Lynx to four championship championships before taking a leave of absence during her prime to focus on reversing a family friend Jonathan Irons’ conviction. Irons was wrongfully convicted of burglary and violence when he was just eighteen years old, and he was sentenced to fifty years in jail.

The 2014 MVP later married Irons and was successful in the endeavor, encouraging supporters for criminal justice reform in the United States.

Sylvia Fowles, a four-time Olympic champion and Moore’s Lynx colleague, was also inducted.

Anthony became the first men’s basketball player to win three Olympic golds, earning him admission for the men’s team. During the 2012–13 NBA season, he won the scoring title.

Among them was Dwight Howard, the 2020 NBA champion, three-time defensive player of the year, and five-time leader in rebounds.
