A California man who fatally shot his ex-girlfriend and her daughter at a red light is on the run
A dangerous man from California is being sought by authorities after he allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend and her daughter while he was stopped at a red light.
Tameeka “La’von” Hall, 45, and her daughter Ma’Laysia Martin, 22, were shot and killed in Compton on Tuesday, April 1st, by Donte Lamont Brown, 41. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LACSD), Brown, Hall’s ex-boyfriend, is still at large and is deemed dangerous and armed.
Hall and Martin were stopped at a red light at Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue when Brown allegedly pulled up next to them, causing the sad tragedy. Both fatalities were reportedly hit by bullets that Brown fired into their car. Martin was discovered in the passenger seat, and Hall, who had been shot, was able to escape from the driver’s side but fell to the ground. Both individuals were later declared dead by the Compton Fire Department after the LACSD arrived at 7:05 p.m.
Witnesses conveyed their sorrow. “It is truly heartbreaking to come out here and see a mother and a daughter,” Debbie Shaw said.
Councilman Jonathan Bowers of Compton City remarked, “It’s just very tragic for our community.” Ronnie, a neighbor, too voiced her grief, describing the crime as “really ridiculous” and urging Brown to come forward.
In honor of Hall as a devoted school district employee and a loving mother to the gifted Ma’Laysia, her family has created a GoFundMe to pay for burial costs.
