Mourinho of Fenerbahce was suspended for three games following the Istanbul derby nose grab incident

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced on Saturday that Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho had been given a three-match suspension and a fine of about 6,000 pounds ($7,734.00) for grasping Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk’s nose during the Istanbul derby.

The confrontation happened on Wednesday after Mourinho’s team fell 2-1 at home in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals.

After a huge altercation between the two teams, the referee sent out three players—two of them were from Galatasaray—and the 62-year-old Portuguese player seemed to grab Buruk’s nose before he collapsed to the ground.

“Mourinho shall be banned from entering the dressing room and the bench for three official matches,” the TFF stated in a statement.

Mourinho won’t play in the matches against Kayserispor, Sivasspor, and Trabzonspor.

With one game remaining, Fenerbahce is six points behind leaders Galatasaray in the Super Lig, placing them in second place.
