Morant was fined $75,000 for making a finger-gun motion while playing

The National Basketball Association said that Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been fined $75,000 for making two finger-gun gestures during a game on Thursday.

During the Grizzlies’ victory over the Miami Heat, Morant, who has received two NBA suspensions for displaying a firearm on social media, made the gestures.

The NBA claims that the league office had previously advised Morant that the finger-gun motion would be taken negatively.

Memphis selected the two-time All-Star with the second choice in the 2019 NBA Draft. In March 2023, he was suspended for eight games without pay for flashing a handgun in an Instagram Live video.

A video of Morant posing with a gun went viral online, and he was also suspended for 25 games to begin the 2023–24 season.
