Flavor Flav Relapses Following Four Years of Abstinence
Flavor Flav, who has been sober for four years, had a “brief” relapse.
As a “human being who makes mistakes,” the rapper/TV personality, who previously acknowledged that he wasted millions on his drug habit, has been clean for almost four and a half years, but he recently acknowledged that he had a significant setback and is now resolved to start over.
In an Instagram post, he stated: “I stay true to who I am, and a significant portion of the last four and a half years has been my sobriety journey. I believe I’ve served as an inspiration to many, showing them that anyone can overcome alcoholism if I can.
“However, it’s not as simple as you believe. I had a brief relapse. I say this in order to own up to my error and take responsibility for it. Because I am a human, I make mistakes, but it doesn’t make me a bad person. I hope everyone in my immediate vicinity supports my decision to stay sober.
“I returned to Day 1 once more,” he continued. Time didn’t stop; I’m still traveling.
Flavor Flav previously acknowledged that he was in a “dark” and “lonely” place because of his addictions.
“At the end of the day, it’s still a lonely world, regardless of how many people are around you doing the same thing you are,” he told the Los Angeles Times. The world is dark. I simply thank God that I was able to make it out.
God allowed me to experience that, he continued, “so that I could teach people about the mistakes that I made … and hopefully they won’t make them.” “It’s easy to get on drugs, but it’s really hard to get off.”
Although it wasn’t an easy journey, he noted that relocating to California from New York helped him transform his life.
“I wanted to change my people, my places, and my things, so I went to California,” Flav told the outlet. You are on the path to healing as long as you continue to do it. I took a long time to get better, dude. I will not lie. took a short while. It was difficult.
“I know what it did to me and my life, so I want to try to go back and undo it.” Furthermore, it didn’t improve my life.
