Trump claims that the TikTok deal would be finalized before the deadline

According to Donald Trump, a deal is imminent and TikTok won’t be blocked just yet.

Trump assured reporters that an agreement with ByteDance, the Chinese parent firm of TikTok, will be reached prior to the deadline on April 5.

“I hope that TikTok survives,” he stated.

Due to national security concerns, Trump gave TikTok until January to either sell to a non-Chinese buyer or face prohibition. He is now willing to extend it if necessary to complete the transaction.

While they iron out the specifics, the administration is anticipated to declare a grace period of at least 30 days. ByteDance might even retain a little ownership share in the app.

Additionally, Trump made a suggestion that if China cooperates with the TikTok agreement, he would relax tariffs.

The agreement has not yet been reached, but for the time being, TikTok’s 170 million users in the US can continue scrolling.
