Yoro and Maguire, two Manchester United defenders, are well enough to return

The Premier League season of Manchester United will continue on Tuesday against high-flying Nottingham Forest, with Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro returning to the team.

French youth Yoro suffered a foot injury, and England’s Maguire missed United’s past two league games due to a calf issue before the international break.

“Maguire is ready to go to the game and Yoro,” manager Ruben Amorim expressed to reporters Monday.

The Portuguese also gave positive news about Ayden Heaven, a defender who joined United from Arsenal in January but was benched two weeks ago in his debut start.

It’s not that serious. Heaven is on the mend. Although he is not yet prepared to play, Amorim stated that he will definitely make a comeback this season.

Although they have resumed their training, Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are still too injured to play.

“(Shaw is) starting to do some drills with the team but we are building Luke,” stated the trainer. “Kobbie is almost ready, Jonny (Evans) is recovering.”

The stiff test

United, currently ranked 13th in the league and undefeated in their past four games, will have a difficult test against Forest, who are in third place and might qualify for the Champions League after returning to Europe’s top club competition for the first time in 45 years.

In their FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, Forest played 120 minutes, whereas United is returning from a 15-day vacation.

“Of course, Nuno (Espirito Santo, Forest’s manager) will say that it was better to have more time to prepare the game, and I can say that that’s a long, long time in the good moment without games,” Amorim continued.

However, they competed and won that cup stage, which is crucial for players to recuperate. Since they are doing so well, the surroundings will be really pleasant.

Since Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan from United and scored his first two goals in a 3-0 victory over second-tier Preston North End to go to the FA Cup semi-finals, Amorim has little to say about his performance.

“We have a lot of games to play and I am focused on my team and my players and Rashford is not my player at the moment,” stated Amorim.

“But every player that performs well on loan is good news for my club so we are happy with that.”

REMAINING FERNANDES

At the end of the season, Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese coach and captain of United, will not be permitted to leave the team.

A transfer to Real Madrid, the Spanish powerhouse, has been suggested for the 30-year-old Fernandes, who last year agreed to a contract extension through 2027.

“No, it will not occur. I’ve already told him, so he’s not leaving,” Amorim remarked of the midfield player.

“We want to keep the top players on board. He plays 50, 55 games every season, so even though he is thirty, he still feels quite young.

“He contributes at least 30 goals and assists, overall. Therefore, he is the kind of player we are looking for here and is here to stay.”

This season, Fernandes has made 44 appearances for United in all competitions, tallying 16 goals and 15 assists.
