Richard Sherman’s home was broken into by armed thieves while his family was there

Following the robbery of his Washington state house at gunpoint while his family was inside, retired NFL cornerback Richard Sherman is speaking out.

Sherman posted on X (previously Twitter) on Monday, revealing that the event happened on Saturday, the day before his birthday. The post featured time-stamped screenshots from his home security system that showed several intruders entering his house.

“Nobody wants to receive a house robbery at gunpoint with their family inside,” the Super Bowl champion stated. “A frightening situation that my wife expertly managed and protected my children.”

In order to help identify the suspects, Sherman, a former player for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers who currently analyzes “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon, begged anyone with information to come forward.

The event is still being investigated, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office, but no one has been taken into custody as of yet.

Growing worries about crimes targeted at athletes are exacerbated by the robbery. Following a string of high-profile break-ins, the FBI warned prominent athletes to increase house security a few weeks prior.
Both Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have had recent situations with their houses.

Federal prosecutors charged seven suspected members of a Chilean theft ring in February for allegedly targeting athletes’ residences while they were playing. The investigation later turned up items that were purportedly taken from Burrow’s house.

Although Sherman has not responded, he is still requesting assistance from the public. We invite anyone with information to get in touch with the King County Sheriff’s Office.
