Rashford claims that since joining Villa, he feels healthier and more fit
Marcus Rashford, who scored his first two goals for Birmingham in a 3-0 victory against second-tier Preston North End to go to the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, claimed he is performing better since joining Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United.
Before his loan move to Villa was confirmed last month, manager Ruben Amorim left England forward Rashford out of their squad. Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for his hometown side, United.
Following Rashford’s admission that he was prepared for a new challenge, Amorim questioned the 27-year-old’s work ethic, stating that he would sooner bench a goalkeeper coach than a player who wasn’t giving it their all.
It’s a wonderful sensation. After scoring a brace in the second half on Sunday, Rashford told the BBC, “I hope it continues because it’s always nice for a forward to get a goal.”
Rashford last played for his parent club in December. This season, he has made 15 appearances for United and scored four Premier League goals.
“Since coming here, I feel like I’ve been playing football better and growing fitter. I didn’t play football much until I joined them. For now, I’m enjoying football and my body feels terrific,” Rashford continued.
On Wednesday, ninth-place Villa will play Brighton & Hove Albion in the league.
