Former psychiatrist to Dr. Dre tries to scare people with fake FBI agent claims in a $10 million battle

According to his recent motion against the music mogul, Dr. Dre’s former doctor has not backed down from speaking his truth.

While working with his former client to negotiate out the terms of his divorce settlement, Dr. Charles J. Sophy stated that the client intimidated him in a number of ways.

Due to Dr. Dre’s menacing text messages, the psychiatrist had previously sought for a temporary restraining order. Dre referred to the $10 million lawsuit as a racist attack and refuted the accusations.

Dr. Dre allegedly used a string of text messages to attack his former psychiatrist.

On March 14, Dr. Sophy submitted a fresh declaration to the Los Angeles Superior Court. He described in the affidavit the anguish he said he endured as a result of the hip-hop mogul’s alleged threats.

Dr. Sophy was first hired to help Dre, whose actual name is Andre Young, and his ex-wife, Nicole Young, come to an agreement during their divorce procedures.

The psychiatrist explained how he feels he was emotionally distressed by Dre’s conduct, saying that Dre dispatched fictitious FBI officers to his gated neighborhood to threaten him.

The doctor stressed that these instances have made others around him feel scared and apprehensive, according to In Touch.

Because of the dangers, Dr. Sophy acknowledged installing advanced security systems at his house.

After a number of concerning episodes involving Dre, Dr. Sophy voiced serious concerns for his safety.

He said he has been forced to take serious security measures out of fear for his life due to Dre’s illegal actions and the barrage of abusive texts he got over a seven-month period.

These precautions include equipping his house with cutting-edge security cameras, employing private security guards for round-the-clock protection, and even donning a bulletproof vest and headgear when he is outside.

Dr. Sophy also expressed his concern, saying he is constantly on edge and feels dangerous leaving his home. He stated that extreme pain, panic, and mental suffering have been caused by the emotional toll of Dre’s threats and past violent deeds.

Dre has responded by refuting all of the accusations made against him, and the case is currently pending.

Inside The Music Producer’s Lawsuit Filed by Dr. Sophy

Despite not communicating for more than a year, Dr. Sophy filed a lawsuit against Dre in October 2024, claiming that Dre had harassed him with threatening texts.

On April 25, 2023, Dre sent a particularly vehement mail to his former psychiatrist that made his frustration and rage clear. He criticized Dr. Sophy in the text for trying to get someone to write a bad article about him.

“Hey doctor, you’re acting like whatever the f–k you are. Just be aware of this. Until you tell me why you attempted to get [redacted] to make unfavorable remarks about me to the media, I won’t go anywhere. What a piece of shit you are! The producer said.

Dre used disparaging language about the medic and hinted that he had been informed of a problematic circumstance involving him, suggesting that his actions will have consequences.

The person who received these communications, Dr. Sophy, refuted Dre’s claims that he was promoting disparaging remarks about him. Dr. Sophy’s lawyer highlighted Dre’s considerable influence and position in Hollywood during the court proceedings, in addition to his known history of abuse and violence.

Given this situation, the psychiatrist legitimately feared for his safety because he thought Dre may follow through on his threats.

The founder of Dre urged the court to reject Dr. Sophy’s lawsuit.

According to The Blast, the rapper defended himself against his former psychiatrist’s civil harassment claim. Stressing that the physician is not entitled to the $10 million in damages he is requesting, he pleaded with the court to dismiss the lawsuit.

In the application for dismissal, Dre’s lawyer contended that Dr. Sophy was negligent in his handling of the accusations made in the complaint, but that this incompetence had nothing to do with Dre’s behavior.

The court filings also assert that the psychologist was involved in the wrongdoings listed in the complaint. According to Dre’s filing, the medic should not be allowed to receive any compensation or, at the absolute least, any compensation should be lowered proportionately.

Last year, Dr. Dre’s former psychiatrist’s request for a PRO was denied.

During the court proceedings last year, Dr. Sophy’s attorney argued that the physician had legitimate concerns about his safety because of Dre’s influence and violent past.

At a hearing held at a Los Angeles courthouse on November 5, 2024, the psychiatrist attempted to have a temporary restraining order changed to a permanent one, but the judge denied the motion.

Dre participated via Zoom, but Dr. Sophy was present in person at the hearing. In the end, the judge determined that there was not enough proof to back up the psychiatrist’s allegations of risk regarding Dre’s text messages.

In conclusion, the process led to the current temporary restraining order being terminated.
