‘I Think About Often’ Regarding Chadwick Boseman: Michael B. Jordan’s Perspective

Nearly five years after Chadwick Boseman’s death, his former co-stars are still dealing with the fallout, and Michael B. Jordan is still troubled by regrets.

In a preview of the first episode of Apple TV+’s new documentary, the adored actor celebrated his “Black Panther” co-star. A-listers like Eddie Murphy and Denzel Washington were interviewed for the “Number One on the Call Sheet” project.

Michael B. Jordan and another male co-star from the popular Marvel film joined the roster of celebrities. The pair reflected on their time spent with Chadwick Boseman, how he profoundly affected their lives, and how their sorrow is unending in the wake of his untimely death in 2020.

On August 28, 2020, Boseman passed away at the age of 43 due to complications from colon cancer. Co-stars like Jordan were unaware of his illness until it was too late because he concealed it for a long period. 

On the debut episode of Apple TV+’s new series, “Leading Black Men in Hollywood,” the latter recalled the encounter. Jordan acknowledged that his failure to give it his best in his last days was the only thing he regretted about his connection with Boseman.

The actor felt guilty for not acting differently when Boseman was alive, despite the fact that he had no way of knowing about his friend’s grave illness.

“You know, it’s something I consider frequently. I’m not checking in as frequently as I ought to. It’s something that bothers me as well. Chadwick is unique, but I don’t want to make this a therapy session. I was anticipating, like, you know. Jordan uttered those words. 

According to PEOPLE, he became so overcome with emotion that he was unable to complete his remarks.

Regarding the deceased actor, Daniel Kaluuya echoed similar sentiments.
Daniel Kaluuya, like Jordan, felt regret and affection for Boseman. Co-starring with the two in “Black Panther,” the Oscar-winning actor remarked on the late performer’s “amazing” presence on set. He praised him as an outstanding performer and person, emphasizing that his work wasn’t simple.

“Taking the lead is a really difficult job. It’s also an unappreciated job. Because every character shines around you, it works. Do you understand what I’m saying? “Kaluuya said.” He mentioned that he had last seen Boseman at a Q&A session.

“‘Who are the people in this process that you think are amazing?'” they asked. ‘Chad,’ I simply said. Kaluuya narrated. 

He used his own acting career to further highlight Boseman’s influence as a top actor. He emphasized how the deceased actor brought out the best in the other characters, stating, “If you’re serving the piece, serving the story.”

Prior to his passing, Jordan recalled having a “real connection” with Boseman.

According to The Blast, Jordan had considered his friendship with the late actor two years prior to expressing his regrets over Boseman’s passing. In 2023, he appeared on “The View,” sharing one of their special experiences, saying:

At one point during the press tour, we were in London, backstage, and preparing to see the film for the first time as a group. After exchanging glances, we decided that we would be together for the rest of our lives.

“I simply recall sitting there with him and sharing a genuine moment of connection. evidently had no knowledge at the time. Jordan stated, “I didn’t know, so when things happened the way they did and we lost him, it stuck with me.”

The Co-Stars’ Relationship Began Years Before ‘Black Panther’ Surprisingly, Boseman and Jordan’s bond began long before they were acquainted. A role as Reggie Porter was offered to the elder actor in the 2003 soap series “All My Children.” The fact that the character was a teenage gang member, however, made him uneasy in the part.

Showrunners made changes to the character in response to Boseman’s protests against the unfavorable racial stereotype. Jordan, at 16 years old, became well-known as Reggie Porter on the soap opera as a result of his complaints. He said that he was unaware of Boseman’s influence on the program in 2019.

“I was playing this role not knowing that a lot of the things I was going through were because of what he’d already done for me.”

On the fourth anniversary of Chadwick Boseman’s passing, Lupita Nyong’o paid tribute to him.

On the fourth anniversary of his death last August, Boseman’s romantic interest in the Marvel film paid tribute to him. Lupita Nyong’o posted two images of the deceased actor on Instagram, according to The Blast’s coverage of the incident.

In the first, Boseman was shown in black and white, while in the second, he and Nyong’o were seen laughing together, demonstrating their strong relationship. She included a post from an unidentified author as the caption, which read: “Bereavement never stops. However, things change.

“It is not a place to remain; it is a transit. Grief does not indicate a lack of faith or weakness. It’s the cost of affection. — unidentified,” the quotation said.

Fans responded similarly to Nyong’o’s statement, recalling Boseman and praising the actress as a “true friend.”
