King Charles III Postpones Visit to Birmingham Due to Minor Side Effects of Cancer Treatment
Although King Charles III had to stay in the hospital for a short time because of side effects from his ongoing treatment, he is now improving at Clarence House.
According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles III was hospitalized for a short time on Thursday because of short-term side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment.
The king or queen, who is 76 years old, went back to Clarence House and is still working on state business there. Due to medical advice, he has canceled his planned trip to Birmingham on Friday, which included four public events.
As a result, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace stated, “He was supposed to have four public events in Birmingham tomorrow and is very upset to have to miss them.”
His greatest condolences go out to everyone who worked so hard to make the planned visit possible. He hopes that they can be rescheduled soon.
Hospital visits are “a very minor bump in the road that is very much heading in the right direction,” according to palace sources, who stressed that the King’s treatment is still on track.
On Thursday, Queen Camilla went to a gathering in Wembley, north London, instead of going with the King to the hospital. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer sent his best thoughts to the queen.
Though he was told he had cancer in February 2024, the King has kept a busy schedule in recent weeks, with a trip to Northern Ireland and important foreign duties. The state visit he was planning to make to Italy in April is still likely to happen, though with some changes.
