Five Are Arrested by Belgian Police in Connection with the Sexual Assault and Drink-Spiking of More Than 41 Women
Due to the attack and spiking of at least 41 women in Belgium, three bar managers and two other people have been placed under arrest.
According to Belgian police, five men have been arrested in relation to an investigation into the rape and sexual abuse of dozens of women, including three bar managers.
At least 41 female victims had their drinks tampered with by the suspects between December 2021 and December 2024, according to the prosecution.
The three accused operated the businesses where the spikings occurred in Kortrijk, a city in the northwest. Investigators say they think they talked to each other about the attacks.
According to the public prosecutor’s office in Western Flanders, five individuals were taken into custody on Wednesday and Thursday in relation to the spiking probe.
According to authorities, two arrested individuals showed up before an investigating judge on Thursday.
While the fifth man has been released following an interview, authorities are still questioning the other two males.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the men are suspected of sexual assault, rape, and unlawfully administering dangerous drugs.
Because of its hallucinatory properties, officials suspect that drugs, possibly ketamine, a general anesthetic used recreationally, were placed into the women’s drinks.
According to Tom Janssens, another spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, “the young women were offered shots of alcohol, often with an amaretto flavor, and then they woke up the next morning groggy in an unknown bed or in their own bed with clear evidence of sexual abuse,” he told Flemish public television VRT.
