The Brazilian Football Federation is getting ready for a big change!

Ednaldo Rodrigues, who was re-elected to lead the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) until 2030, is laying the groundwork for a real revolution in Brazilian football.

After being elected in 2022, he was backed by Serie A and B teams and the 27 state federations to win a second term without opposition. His goals are clear: to improve club-CBF unity, professionalize contests, and update the national football system. The establishment of an independent league beginning in 2027 is one of the major initiatives discussed; this idea was influenced by European models and would provide teams greater autonomy while still collaborating closely with the CBF.

Ednaldo Rodrigues has reiterated his dedication to this endeavor, stressing that cooperation and communication are crucial to the achievement of this change.

Ronaldo’s failed bid was another notable aspect of this reelection; he had contemplated running but withdrew because of the federations’ lack of support. The CBF president has however expressed openness to the former football legend’s remarks and promised to take his suggestions into consideration. The reconstruction of the Seleção following a string of poor performances is one of Ednaldo Rodrigues’s main tasks, in addition to institutional reforms.

His objective is to reestablish Brazil’s place among the footballing giants of the globe by striking a balance between tradition and innovation.
