The Funny Time Khaligraph Jones Spent with Abel Mutua Prior to His Stardom
Khaligraph has a collection of cars that no other musician in Kenya can match, and he doesn’t hesitate to show off his vehicles on the internet.
Artist Khaligraph Jones recently appeared on the Mic Check podcast, which is hosted by Mariah, Chaxxy, and Mwas.
When Jones shared a story from a long time ago, the program was full with laughs and good times.
The Mic Cheque podcast, which is hosted by Mariah, Chaxy, and Mwas, recently featured an appearance by rapper Khaligraph Jones. Papa Jones told a fantastic anecdote about his early days in the music business, which made the entire program full with laughs.
Khaligraph related a previous interview with Abel Mutua in Westlands, when the discussion took an unexpected and humorous turn.
Khaligraph was already well-known in the music industry at the time, but he had no money and had not yet made having a car a top priority.
However, Abel offered him and his manager, Franko, a straightforward yet challenging question in passing during the interview:
“Tumemealiza interview, tunataka kutokea alafu Abel anatuuliza kwenye tumepark gari,” he stated.
Translating to “We had finished the interview, and we wanted to leave then Abel asked us where we had parked our car,” Jones felt pressured to maintain appearances and thought of a quick response because they had actually arrived by public transportation.
“Sisi tulkuwa tumeenda iyo place na matatu, lakini nkamshow tumepark gari pale tu juu ,kabla Abel achore jamaa akanza kutufwata kwa parking,” he admitted. Converting to (We had taken public transportation there, but I informed him that we had parked just up there, and rather than dismissing me, the man began to follow us to the parking lot.)
Khaligraph and Franko were in a difficult position after realizing they were going to be exposed. They had no easy way to hide their bluff at the time because Uber had not yet launched and cabs were too costly.
“Expensive taxis were the only option available at the time; there was no Uber. We couldn’t allow that to happen, though, because Abel still wanted to follow us.
Luckily, Abel got a call, and Khaligraph and his manager used the distraction to run through the crowded streets of Westlands and get away before Abel could discover the truth.
Even though he didn’t tell Abel Mutua anything that day, Khaligraph’s situation ultimately worked out beautifully. Alongside his longtime pal Lamaz Span K.O.B., the “Yes Bana” hitmaker now operates his own car garage in addition to being a proud owner of several luxury vehicles.
Among Kenyan musicians, his collection of cars, valued at about KSh 20 million, is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding. In contrast to his difficult early years, he now takes pleasure in showing off his expensive cars online.
