Ronaldo apologizes to Neymar for his comments toward the CBF president

Ronaldo Nazário, a former Brazilian striker, officially apologized to Neymar on Monday after implying that the Santos forward had a tense relationship with Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

Ronaldo said, “I want to apologize to Neymar for bringing up his relationship with the president of the CBF,” acknowledging the possible hurt caused by his remarks. As a previous participant, I am aware of the harm that can result from false claims.

His comments came after Neymar hinted in an interview that he held Rodrigues partially accountable for the severe injury he sustained in an October 2023 match against Uruguay.

Ronaldo had originally intended to run for CBF president but resigned owing to a lack of support; this apology comes after Ednaldo Rodrigues was re-elected. The former Real Madrid and Barcelona player’s explanation is meant to reduce tensions after his remarks on the Charla Podcast raised questions. Ronaldo’s statement has not yet received a public response from Neymar.
