LaVar Ball Shares The One Thing That Made Him Feel Better After Having His Foot Amputated

“That’s all I kept thinking about when I was in the hospital,” Ball said.

Since the Big Baller Brand founder just had his right foot amputated, LaVar Ball has been candid about his ongoing health struggles.

Ball, who is featured with his sons, NBA players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, and rapper LiAngelo “GELO” Ball, in the April/May issue of SLAM magazine, talked about how his boys helped him get through the terrifying experience.

He specifically attributed his improved mood after the surgery and during his recuperation to GELO and the popularity of his breakthrough track, “Tweaker.”

LaVar told the outlet, “I had a couple of FaceTime conversations with Gelo when I was in the hospital and ‘Tweaker’ was beginning to become a global hit, but I was kind of slurring because I was all drugged up with all the medication, they were putting in me.”

I found it difficult to focus on what I was trying to convey. Despite my rather slurred speech, Gelo was able to understand what I was saying.

As he stated that his family is his top priority, the devoted father recalls telling LiAngelo to keep up his hard work while remaining committed to it.

“I recall simply asking him to keep doing what you’re doing. Additionally, be careful to look after your brothers,” Ball advised. Just make sure that everyone is present. Because I feel better the more you two are together. My guys being together was all I could think about when I was in the ICU.

In 2016, LaVar Ball became well-known around the country after he started making predictions that all three of his sons will play in the NBA. He even went so far as to liken his oldest son, Lonzo, to four-time NBA champion Steph Curry.

He also caused a stir when he rejected the conventional endorsements from companies like Nike, Adidas, and Reebok at the time and instead founded the Big Baller Brand, a sports and lifestyle clothing and shoe company owned and operated by him and his sons.

He was a controversial but well-liked figure in sports and pop culture because of his gregarious demeanor and bold faith in his sons. Years later, several of his seemingly absurd prophecies came to pass.
