NBA Player Dwight Howard’s former partner speaks up about his nasty custody dispute, saying, “He was never a great father”

Tiffany Render, Dwight Howard’s ex-partner, has given a less than stellar assessment on his parenting abilities.

The NBA player’s baby mama criticized him for being a bad parent and preventing her from seeing their child because of his constant court appearances.

In 2008, Tiffany Render and Dwight Howard started dating. After deciding that their relationship was not working out, they eventually split up after welcoming their daughter, Layla, in 2010.

The former partner of Dwight Howard stated that he only sees their child when it suits him.

Howard has been accused of breaking their long-standing friendship by Render, who has expressed her disappointment and rage at him. She alleges that he has entangled her in court disputes using his wealth, interfering with her time with their kid. 

She also thinks that since she started to doubt the athlete’s team, his friends have helped to push her out of his life. She went on to consider her relationship with Dwight, highlighting the fact that even after their breakup, she and his family and friends remained close friends. 

She thought it gave her a sense of security to keep this friendship going. Render also disclosed that Howard urged her to get closer to him, even when they were in different relationships. 

She married another man in 2015, although she mentioned that the basketball player’s hectic NBA schedule meant he only saw their daughter sometimes. As she told In Touch:

“He never made a good dad. I gave our daughter excuses for it. 

His petition for a reduction in child support caught Tiffany Render off guard.

Render’s marriage eventually fell apart, so she moved to Atlanta to be nearer to Howard. She was able to rent a large 5,000-square-foot house outside of the city in 2022 since she was in a steady financial situation at the time. 

She and Howard were still “flirting,” according to Render, and she would frequently stay at his place for several days during this time. 

But when the NBA player asked her to leave one morning, claiming to have plans with pals, things took a turn for the worse.

Her ex filed a lawsuit against Render the next day, requesting that his $12,000 monthly child support payments be lowered. She called the basketball player to confront him because she was confused and unhappy. 

He asserted that his legal team made a mistake in filing the action, and Render proposed that if he required a reduction, they could resolve the issue in private. Howard’s attorneys first offered her $2,000 a month in support, but the case went to court despite his insistence that the filing was a mistake.

The sportsman later got in touch with the baby mama and offered her a new deal: $3,000 a month, if she would move into his Georgia estate with their daughter instead of buying the house she had been eyeing. 

In 2023, Render moved in with Howard after agreeing to this arrangement. The professional basketball player departed shortly after to pursue a chance abroad. She lived in the estate for three months, and Render said she was surprised when one of his staff asked her when she would be leaving.

According to reports, Howard stopped communicating with Render.

After his employee asked the query, Render said she tried to get in touch with the athlete but he was unavailable.

The time frame aligned with Howard’s custody of Layla. As soon as this period started, Render was told to leave, which meant leaving Dwight’s house without their child. 

Render relocated to Florida in search of a new beginning, but as soon as she arrived, he stopped communicating with the Lakers star and stopped giving her updates about their kid. 

Render revealed that she drove to Georgia to pick up her baby when it was time for her to get custody. Her daughter was reluctant to leave at first because she wanted to go to an event the next week, but they finally left together. 

The daughter took a video of herself sobbing during the car ride, which was given to her father’s team and used against Render in court. The NBA player also sued for full custody in a second case.

He voiced concerns about inappropriate TikTok videos and accused his ex of allowing their daughter to record for a reality program. Render denied any role in permitting their daughter to appear in a reality show, claiming that the TikTok videos were shot at Howard’s house.

In the midst of their legal battle, the 39-year-old claimed his ex had defamed him.

As their custody dispute intensified, the father of five accused his ex-partner of defaming him, according to The Blast. He claimed that Render’s public criticism of him had a detrimental effect on his 15-year-old daughter and that this was a violation of a court order. 

The petitioner said that these acts constituted willful contempt of court and were intentional. filed in a Georgia court on January 8. According to his appeal, Render’s derogatory comments harm their child’s wellbeing in addition to harming his reputation.

“[Tiffany] has willfully failed and refused to comply with those requirements and has continued to speak negatively, and publicly, about [Dwight] defaming his name and character and has done so in a manner in which the minor child is exposed to same,” the counsel for Howard stated.

Tiffany Render’s communication and financial records were previously demanded by Dwight Howard.

Howard subpoenaed Render in November 2024 to obtain all correspondence pertaining to their daughter. All emails and texts with Layla’s doctors, instructors, coaches, tutors, and youth group leaders were included in the request.

Claiming that these exchanges were essential to their argument, Howard’s legal team asked for all correspondence sent after January 2024. 

The subpoena also required Render to produce her 2023 tax return, all of her 2023 pay stubs, and any employment documents. 

In addition, Howard wanted any proof she planned to use against him in the custody battle that was still pending.

In January 2024, he was ultimately granted temporary primary custody of his daughter. His $3,000 monthly child support payments were also suspended by the court. Render was also given the ability to visit, with a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
