Antonio of West Ham is certain he will return to action following a major injury
Michail Antonio, a forward for West Ham United, is optimistic that he will be able to return to action following a severe leg injury sustained in a car accident in December.
After surgery, Antonio spent more than three weeks in the hospital after his automobile struck a tree on his way home from training, breaking his femur in four places.
Antonio stated in an interview with the BBC’s “Morning Live” that was released on Monday, “The most difficult part is that I almost wasn’t there for my children.”
“It’s just made me happy, positive about life, because I’ve got another chance at life.”
Antonio, 34, has been with West Ham since 2015. Although he can now walk, he still has a long way to go before he can resume playing football.
“Overall, they say it will be between six (and) 12 months before my leg starts healing properly,” he stated.
It’s the most serious injury I’ve ever sustained in my professional life. However, given that I’m already two to three months ahead of schedule, I’m confident that I’ll play again and that my sharpness will return once I do.
