Poland intends to initiate voluntary military training next year, with the goal of training 100,000 volunteers each year by 2027.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has unveiled plans for a voluntary military training program, scheduled to commence next year, aiming to train 100,000 volunteers each year by 2027.
Prior to a government meeting on Tuesday, Tusk highlighted the necessity of making sure that every interested person has the opportunity to engage in the training by 2026. He recognized the challenge yet conveyed assurance in its practicality. He additionally mentioned that in addition to Poland’s professional army and the current Territorial Defense Force, the nation needs to establish a robust reserve force to strengthen national security.
“Our primary goal is to ensure that everyone interested has the opportunity to participate in this training by 2026.” “That is indeed a challenging task, but I am confident it can be accomplished,” Tusk stated before a government meeting.
“By 2027, we will have the capacity to train 100,000 volunteers annually…” In addition to the professional army and the Territorial Defense Force, it is essential that we effectively establish a reserve army, and our efforts will be directed towards this goal.
The action is in line with Poland’s wider initiatives to enhance its defense capabilities in response to increasing worries about possible threats from Russia. Last week, the government approved military training for all adult males as a component of its preparedness strategy.
In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine three years ago, Poland has significantly increased its defense spending, now dedicating a larger share of its GDP to military expenditures than any other NATO member. The suggested training program demonstrates the nation’s dedication to strengthening its defense forces in light of changing security challenges.
