Richard Mofe-Damijo and Ayra Starr Join the Star-Studded Cast of “Children of Blood and Bone”

New casting announcements for the eagerly awaited movie version of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling book Children of Blood and Bone further heighten anticipation.

The renowned actor Richard Mofe-Damijo and Nigerian music phenomenon Ayra Starr are two of the most recent additions to the star-studded lineup.

Starr, who most recently starred in Christmas in Lagos, joins the cast with Mofe-Damijo, a Nigerian film industry veteran who has starred in popular films including The Black Book. Both Pamilerin Ayodeji and Shamz Garuba, who were chosen from last year’s open casting call, are also joining the project. The final addition is Temi Fagbenle, an American-Nigerian basketball player who was born in London.

Thuso Mbedu, star of The Woman King, is playing the role of Zélie, the strong female lead. The actor who played Supacell, Tosin Cole, will play Zélie’s older brother, Tzain. Amandla Stenberg and Damson Idris will portray Princess Amari and Prince Inan, respectively, while Chiwetel Ejiofor, a well-known British-Nigerian actor, will play King Saran.

A remarkable cast of Black performers from throughout the world, all with strong ties to their African heritage, are included in the film.

In addition to industry titans like Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, and Academy Award winner Regina King, who will play Queen Nehanda, the ensemble also adds prominence to the movie.

Due to its outstanding cast and innovative directing, Children of Blood and Bone, which is scheduled for release in early 2027, is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated fantasy movies of the past several years.
