A Florida teen who vanished after making an online friend was allegedly dismembered by the man and his girlfriend

The disappearance of a Florida teen ended in horror when authorities discovered that she had been enticed by an older guy on social media, held captive, tortured, and eventually dismembered.

Following her Valentine’s Day encounter with 35-year-old Steven Gress, 16-year-old Miranda Corsette disappeared. Investigators said she never came back after visiting his duplex in St. Petersburg the following day.

According to authorities, Gress and his partner, Michelle Brandes, 37, falsely accused Corsette of ring theft. After that, they “held the victim against her will for more than seven days” and severely abused her, according to a police affidavit. Abuse progressed to a horrific demise. According to the complaint, the couple “trapped her face with plastic wrap and shoved a pool ball in her mouth, causing her to suffocate.”

The period between February 20 and 24 is thought to be when Corsette was killed. After being taken to another place in Largo, her remains were dismembered and dumped in a dumpster.

“The body was dismembered, transported to Hillsborough County, and dumped in a dumpster at 2893 14th Ave. S.E., Ruskin,” according to police, citing evidence from the Largo residence. “The body is being sought after by detectives who found the dumpster.”

A first-degree murder accusation has been brought against Gress, who was previously incarcerated on unrelated counts such as cocaine possession and reportedly pointing a harpoon at Brandes. After first running from the law, Brandes turned herself in on Saturday and is now in detention as well.

The vicious murder that has rocked a Florida community has left both suspects awaiting trial.
