Elon Musk supports requests for forgiveness George Floyd’s murderer Chauvin Derek
Elon Musk has co-signed a request to pardon Derek Chauvin, the man who killed George Floyd, in one of the most horrific and heinous actions to date.
Musk added his voice when Ben Shapiro, a conservative media personality, started a petition asking Donald Trump to release the former Minneapolis police officer who was found guilty of killing Floyd in 2020, sparking demonstrations throughout the world.
“We write to urge you to immediately grant a pardon for Officer Derek Chauvin, who was wrongfully convicted and is currently serving a 22-and-a-half-year sentence for the murder of George Floyd and associated federal charges,” Shapiro’s petition stated.
The video of Floyd’s killing, which showed him begging, “I can’t breathe,” while Chauvin kneeled on his neck for about ten minutes, sparked protests around the country and helped spread the Black Lives Matter movement.
In his letter, Shapiro asserted that Floyd’s passing was the “inciting event for the BLM riots,” which he said caused property damage and heightened racial tensions in America. Additionally, he highlighted the “massive overt pressure on the jury to return a guilty verdict regardless of the evidence” and said that there were “gaps in the evidence.” “Under these circumstances, blind justice did not have a chance to work, and as a result, a man is now rotting in prison,” he continued.
Chauvin, who was found guilty in two different trials, is currently serving a federal sentence for violating Floyd’s civil rights as well as a state sentence for second-degree murder. In a Twitter post, Musk said, “Something to think about,” endorsing Shapiro’s contentious petition.
