Eagles offer RB Saquon Barkley a $41.2 million contract deal, according to reports
Saquon Barkley, the first running back in NFL history to earn $20 million or more, has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $41.2 million with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Super Bowl champions, according to numerous publications on Tuesday.
On Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, the 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year defeated the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs to cap up an incredible debut season with the Eagles on his 28th birthday.
According to reports, the new agreement, which puts Barkley under contract until 2028, contains a guaranteed $36 million plus an additional $15 million in incentives. According to Over The Cap, the guaranteed salary is the highest for a running back on a three-year or shorter contract.
Barkley, who signed a three-year contract with Philadelphia last offseason as a free agency with a base value of $37.75 million, was earning roughly $12.6 each year. This includes incentives and a guaranteed $26 million.
After leading the league with 345 carries for 2,005 yards and a 125.3 per game average while scoring 13 touchdowns in 16 regular-season games (all starts), the three-time Pro Bowl selection was named to the first team All-Pro in 2024. Additionally, he hauled in 33 catches for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
He passed Terrell Davis with a single-season record of 2,504 yards after rushing 91 more times for 499 yards and five touchdowns in four postseason games.
In 90 regular-season games (all starts) with the New York Giants (2018–23) and Eagles, Barkley has ran 1,546 times for 7,216 yards and 48 touchdowns and caught 321 catches for 2,378 yards and 14 scores.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants selected him out of Penn State with the second overall pick.
